On Jan 29, 2009 Northwest Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Atlanta began its three year mission to free itself from the coal-fired electrical grid. Installation of 20 Schuco-USA solar photovoltaic (PV) modules was completed constituting the first phase of a 108 solar module array. The Congregation is combining solar energy and energy conservation to reach its ultimate goal of zero carbon emission. The Congregation undertook this project under the leadership of its Earth Ministry Team and in reverence of Unitarian Universalists’ seventh principle, respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part. Upon completion the array will generate 2540kWh/month or 30480kWh/year of clean electricity.
